This Just Might Be My Moms Sloppy Joe Recipe

This easy Sloppy Joe Recipe might not be the exact one my Mom used when I was just a lad, but it sure tastes like it. At least as far as my memory can take me back.

If you’ve ever had one of these then you must know where it gets its name. My Mom always made me use a fork.

I normally use ground chuck for a recipe of this type. However any ground beef or hamburger should do fine.

I think the next time I make it I'm going to try a coarse ground beef. That'll make it a little on the chunky side.

Sloppy Joe Recipe

1 lb. ground beef
1/2 c. finely chopped onion
1 c. tomato catsup
1 Tbsp. sugar
2 Tbsp. prepared mustard
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. paprika
Hamburger buns

Brown the ground beef slowly in a skillet, stirring so it is crumbly with no big lumps of beef. Pour off the pan drippings. Add the remaining ingredients and about 1/2 cup water. Cover and simmer about 30 minutes.

Serve on split buns.

Keeps well in the refrigerator or can be frozen.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.
