Hot Dog Chili
Chili dogs are the turf of drive-in restaurants. But with this hot dog chili recipe you
can make them even better at home. The key is to cook the chili until it's thick and fairly dry.
You don't want it so runny that it won't stay on the hot dog.
When you're selecting the ground beef choose one without much fat. Ground round is a good choice.

2 lb. Lean ground beef
3/4 c. water
1 c. ketchup
1 tsp. Vinegar
4 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
3 level tsp. chili powder
1/4 tsp. red pepper
1 tsp. dry mustard
1 tsp. salt, rounded
Cook the lean ground beef in the water for 1 hour on low heat. Mix the remainder of the
ingredients together and mix with the beef. Simmer for 15 minutes or longer, if desired. Serve
on hot dogs.
After the final simmering you can dump the chili in the crock-pot set on low heat and use it
as the serving dish. Keeps it hot!
This should make enough hot dog chili for about 20 chili dogs. If you don't use
it all you can freeze it in portions.
