Quick Homemade Chili Recipe
A good homemade chili recipe belongs in every home cooks recipe file. This one is not
only good but it's also quick. Most of the time it takes is in the simmering at the final stage.
If you like your chili on the spicy side (I do!) you can add powdered cayenne pepper to suit
your taste.
I also like just a wee bit more chili powder than this recipe calls for. But that's just me.
Quick Homemade Chili Recipe
2 Tbsp. cooking oil
1/2 clove garlic, minced
1 lb. ground beef chuck*
1 (15 1/2 oz.) can kidney beans, undrained
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/2 medium green pepper, chopped
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 tsp. Salt
1 to 2 tsp. chili powder
Heat the oil in a large skillet. Add the garlic and ground beef chuck and stir until the beef
chuck looses its red color. Pour off the excess fat.
Add the kidney beans along with their liquid, the onions and the green pepper.
Stir in the tomato sauce, salt and chili powder. Simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally
until chili is desired thickness, about 45 minutes.
*If you're like
me and prefer a coarse grind of beef for your chili you can use your food processor as a grinder.
Just cut a beef chuck roast into chunks and pulse it a few times until it looks right.
This homemade chili recipe makes 4 servings.
