Crock-Pot Beef Stew Recipe
This is just one of probably thousands of Crock-pot Beef Stew Recipes. Stew doesn't have to be done in a crock-pot. But, if there's an ideal cooking vessel for beef stew, it has to be the crock-pot. "Beef Chuck is ideal for stew. Gourmet beef or premium beef is not required!"
Crock Pot Beef Stew Recipe
2 lb. beef stew meat, cut in 1-inch cubes
1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. Salt
1/2 tsp. Pepper
1 1/2 c. beef broth
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic
1 bay leaf
1 tsp. Paprika
4 carrots, sliced
3 potatoes, diced
1 stalk celery, diced
Place the beef stew meat in the crock-pot. Mix the flour, salt and pepper and pour over the beef. Stir to coat the beef with the flour. Add the remaining ingredients and stir well. Cover and cook on low 10 to 12 hours. (High 4 to 6 hours.) Stir well before serving.
About The Beef
Even though most groceries have packaged cut-up "stewing beef" I highly encourage you to select a good beef roast and cut it yourself.
You don't know what area of the beef critter their stewing beef came from. It could be good but it could not be. Selecting your own beef roast and cubing it yourself is the way to go.
The additional time it takes is well worth it. You know you've got good beef that will result in a great Crock-pot Beef Stew.
