Beef Taco Recipe
The key to any great Beef Taco Recipe is in the seasoning used in the ground beef.
It has to have that Tex/Mex flavor. This recipe delivers.
I like mine on the spicy side so I add cayenne pepper to heat it up a bit.
Beef Taco Recipe
2 lb. lean ground beef
2 medium onions, chopped
1 to 2 Tbsp. Tabasco sauce
1 tsp. whole cumin seed
1/8 tsp. ground coriander
1 Tbsp. crushed red pepper
2 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Pepper
1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup tomato ketchup
1/2 cup water
Brown the meat and onions and then drain the fat. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. Cook on medium heat until most of the water has evaporated and the mixture has thickened. Season more, if necessary to taste.
Serve hot in taco shells with the garnishes of your choice. I always add chopped tomatoes, chopped lettuce and shredded cheddar cheese.
Would you rather have your taco in a casserole? This recipe makes a great entrée. I like to have Spanish rice and refried beans as side dishes.
Casserole Beef Taco Recipe
1 cup diced onion
1/4 cup butter
1 can tomatoes
1 lb. ground beef, browned
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1 cup chicken broth or beef broth
1 lb. grated cheese
1 can mushrooms
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1 can cream of chicken soup
1 Tbsp. chili powder
1 (8 oz.) pkg. Tortillas
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Sauté the onion and mushrooms in the butter. Add the soup, tomatoes, garlic, chili powder and browned ground beef.
Place the tortillas in the broth and soak for 5 minutes. Line a casserole dish with soaked tortillas and alternate layering with the beef mixture and the grated cheese ending with cheese. Bake 30 minutes.
Whether you like your taco in a casserole or in the shell these two should fill the bill. I kind of prefer the Beef Taco Recipe in the shell.
