A Basic Meatloaf Recipe
That’s as Basic as It Gets

You get a classic meatloaf with this basic meatloaf recipe.

With just a minimum of ingredients and a little technique you get a dinner entree that is sure to please the most discriminating taste.

It has the right amount of onion and garlic for good flavor and the only other seasoning is salt and pepper.

That’s as basic as beef cooking gets.

Basic Meatloaf Recipe

2 lbs. ground chuck*
1 cup soft bread crumbs
3/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1 large clove garlic, minced
2 tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Pepper
Preheat your oven to 350ºF.

Combine all the ingredients in large bowl, mixing lightly but thoroughly.

Shape the meatloaf mixture into 10 x 4-inch loaf on a rack in a broiler pan. Bake in a 325ºF oven 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 20 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 155ºF.

Let the meatloaf stand 10 minutes before cutting. Cut into slices and serve.

*Ground chuck has the ideal fat to lean ratio for this basic meat loaf recipe.

If you use another beef grind or a combination of beef and other meats make sure the fat content is between 15 to 20 percent.

This recipe will make six generous servings. Make two so you'll have plenty of leftovers for sandwiches.
