Barbecued Brisket Recipes abound! Barbecued is a favorite method of preparing tough beef brisket. Either one of these two brisket recipes should satisfy any barbecue lover and make Texans proud.

Before you buy brisket you should read the Selecting Brisket page.

My grocery will occasionally have a brisket sale and that's when I buy beef brisket in quantity.

I shrink wrap it and freeze it for future barbecued brisket or for smoking brisket.

This barbecued brisket will melt in your mouth and the sauce is to die for!

Barbecued Brisket Rub Ingredients

1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Barbecued Brisket Sauce Ingredients

1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup chili sauce
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tablespoons cider vinegar
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
1/2 teaspoon ground mustard

2 1/2 pounds fresh beef brisket, trimmed of excess fat

Directions

Combine the barbecued brisket rub ingredients and rub over the beef brisket. Place the brisket in your slow cooker.

Combine the barbecue brisket sauce ingredients in a bowl. Pour half of the barbecue sauce over the brisket and set the remainder aside.

Place the cover on your slow cooker and cook on high for 4 to 5 hours or until the meat is tender.

Serve the brisket with the reserved barbecue sauce.


Oven Barbecued Beef Brisket

This is an extremely easy brisket recipe but it could become your family's favorite. You can also cook it in the crock-pot.

Ingredients

2 1/2 pounds beef brisket
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle cola-flavored carbonated beverage
1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle chile sauce

Directions

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F.

Place the beef brisket in a roasting pan fat side up.

Combine the cola beverage, onion soup mix and chile sauce in a small bowl. Pour the chile sauce mixture over the brisket.

Cover the brisket and bake in the preheated oven for 3 to 4 hours. Uncover the brisket during the last hour of cooking.

Serve your barbecued brisket with a salad, roasted new potatoes and Brussels sprouts. Yummy, delicious dinner!
